Where can we see Standard Objects in salesforce ?

First we can go to setup ---> App setup ---> Customize

You then select on an object name to work with it.
The two primary objects we use in HandsOn Connect are Accounts (Which remember, is Salesforce's native term for the object we call Organizations in HandsOn Connect) and Contacts.

We may also use this menu as needed to work with the Home Tab, Customer Portal, Tags, Users, Reports & Dashboards, and Chatter.

Note: Salesforce has standard objects that sound a lot like some we use in HandsOn Connect. The objects Opportunities, Partners, Answers,

When you click on a standard object - you can get to its fields and other characteristics by expanding the submenu

Field Details

The field detail shows us a few important aspects related to the field:

  • Field Label is name for the field as it shows up on the record page and Field Name is the unique name given to that field within Salesforce
  • Validation Rules allows you to ensure that a field is populated properly, that set fields within an object are populated before saving or publishing on the site, or that once set cannot be changed. DO NOT CHANGE!
  • Picklist values- allows you to create picklist and multi-picklist values for the field to help define the possible options for the users. DO NOT CHANGE ANY OF THE STANDARD PICKLIST VALUES! Please see the ost for more information regarding the picklists that can have values added.

A standard object will have standard fields, but may also have custom fields that have been added to the object.
